I have always loved Linda Collison's vivid prose, and believe I have read just about every word she has published. This short short did not let me down. At first look this is a simple story of one day in the life of a down-and-out on a moored boat in Honolulu, but beneath that surface it holds a great depth of experience and emotion. Read it for the first class writing (the description of the water by the pier will blow you away) and you will find a richly nuanced commentary on the world today that will keep you thinking for a very long time.
