A trio of major book publishers plus AOL is to launch a book recommendation site
Mark Heffinger on digitalmediawire passes on the interesting news that Hachette, Simon & Schuster, and Penguin are to team up with internet giant AOL to launch Bookish, a book recommendation site designed to connect readers with favorite authors and books.
AOL Huffington Post Media Group will publish the content across its network of sites, which will carry advertising.
Arianna Huffington, president and editor-in-chief of the conglomerate, said they will use their "multimedia, social and community engagement tools to help connect our readers with authors and their books. And we'll highlight this content through our entire network and hyperlocal sites," she added, in a bout of uncharacteristic geek-speak.
That inclusion of advertising sounds scary to me.
